ACCOUNTANT II

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), a sub-regional organisation responsible for conducting various examinations in the English-speaking West African Countries, invites applications from suitably qualified Gambians to fill the following vacant positions at The Gambia National Office.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicants will be required to perform the following duties among others, in the Finance Division:

  • Supervise the input, management and accuracy of financial data and reports for the Council
  • Analyse revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budgetary controls.
  • Analyse revenue and expenditure trends to recommend effective budgetary controls.
  • Prepare and monitor annual budgets to ensure alignment with the Council’s goals.
  • Conduct detailed financial and cost analyses to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate timely and accurate audits.
  • Prepare financial statements in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide strategic advice on cost reduction initiatives and cash flow optimisation.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must:

  • Possess Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or any other related course of study with at least Second Class Lower Division;
  • Have at least three (3) years post-qualification experience;
  • Certification from a recognised professional accounting body will be an added advantage.

  ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

   Applicants must

  • Possess five (5) credits in WASSCE/GCE “O” Levels, including English language and Mathematics at a sitting, or six (6) credits at not more than two (2) sittings, including English Language and Mathematics. 
  • Not be more than forty (40) years of age as at the close of the advertisement.
