VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTS - International Staff
The West African Examinations Council, a sub-regional organisation responsible for the conduct of a variety of examinations in the English-speaking West African Countries, invites applications, to be completed online, from suitably qualified persons, to fill the following vacant positions in The Gambia National Office.
1. ASSISTANT REGISTRAR II
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful applicants will be responsible for the development and moderation of tests in their subject of specialisation and be involved in other examination activities of the Council.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must:
· Possess a bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division), from a
recognised University in the subject areas listed hereunder:
· Have a minimum of three (3) years post- graduation teaching experience.
Master’s Degree in Measurement and Evaluation will be an added advantage.

2. ACCOUNTANT II
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful applicants will be required to perform the following duties, among others, in the Finance Division:
- Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for the Council.
- Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budgetary controls.
- Prepare and monitor annual budgets.
- Conduct financial and cost analyses.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors.
- Prepare reports for the Council’s meetings.
- Prepare financial statements in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Serve as a statutory member of some management committees.
- Advise on cost reduction and cash flow improvement.
- Be proficient in at least one accounting package.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Finance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must:
- Possess a bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in Accounting or Finance. An MBA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or any other equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
- Have at least three (3) years of post-graduation experience in a reputable organization/institution.
3. RESEARCH OFFICER II
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful applicants will be required to perform the following duties, among others:
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research.
• Maintain the research database.
• Supervise research projects from the proposal stage to completion.
• Analyze and interpret research data.
• Write research reports.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must:
• Possess a bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class Lower Division) in English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Statistics, Social Science, or Education.
• Have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant post-graduation work experience.
Possession of a master’s degree in Measurement and Evaluation or a Ph.D. in Education or Social Science will be an added advantage.

NOTE: All applicants must possess five (5) credits in SSCE/WASSCE/GCE O Level, including English Language and Mathematics, in one sitting, or six (6) credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings. Applicants should not be more than forty (40) years of age as of the close of the advertisement.
