Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination

The Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination (GABECE) is the national examination conducted by WAEC for The Gambia. It is taken at the end of the basic education cycle and certifies completion of basic education.

GABECE is offered for school candidates and for private candidates. The examination reflects national education policy while meeting the Council’s standards for validity, reliability and fairness. Copies of Chief Examiners’ Reports, syllabuses and past papers may be obtained from the Customer Services Centre at the Banjul Office.

Private candidate registration is announced by press release. Candidates buy a registration card specified by number of subjects from Guaranty Trust Bank Limited and register at the Head Office in Banjul or at the branch offices in Mansakonko and Basse. A valid National Identity Card, birth certificate or passport is required.
